So you want to know, what Is An Email List?
If you don't have an email list, and you have a website (or thinking of starting a website), it's definitely time to start one! Having an email list can be a game-changer for your business.
So let’s talk about why you need one and what it can do for you!
What is an email list?
An email list is a group of subscribers (people) who have signed up to get emails from you.
But they're not just any group of people.
If you've created a lead magnet that hits on one of the big pain points your clients face, you can have an email list that's highly targeted and full of potential clients.
Why have an email list?
The great thing about an email list is that it's yours.
Social media algorithms are changing all the time. This can have a knock-on effect on how much of your audience even sees your content.
But if you can get as many people as possible on your email list, this is a lot less of a problem.
You can show up in your subscribers inbox instead, and build a more personal relationship.
Email can feel a lot more one on one and that intimacy is great for building trust with potential clients. They might not be ready to work with you straight away but the relationship you build warms them up for when they are.
You can segment your email list to send emails to specific subscribers. You could target people who have previously signed up for one of your coaching programs, for example.
And because you own the list, you can still stay in touch with your potential clients even if social media disappeared overnight!
Email versus social media
People often check their inbox multiple times per day or get notifications as soon as an email hits their inbox.
This is hugely different from social media, where your followers can easily go days without seeing any of your new posts.
If you're relying solely on social media for marketing your business, you're missing a great way to make sure you stay front of mind with people who have a big interest in what you do.
Email and social media can complement each other too and work together to bring you more clients. You can use social media to drive people to your email list, for example.
